The Natural Resources Department is privileged to work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other groups to provide a variety of programs that both safeguard the environment and educate Tribal members and the Island community about environmental issues that affect us all.
Lead/Radon
The Natural Resources Department of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah has partnered with the US E.P.A. to create a comprehensive lead education, awareness, and assessment program that benefits both Tribal members, and the Island as a whole.
air quality
The Natural Resources Department of the Wampanoag Tribe monitors the air and water quality on Martha’s Vineyard for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
water quality
The laboratory conducts fresh, salt, and brackish water quality monitoring and environmental research.
OUTREACH / EDUCATION PUBLICATIONS
The Wampanoag Tribe’s efforts at environmental protection do not end at Tribal borders. The Tribe has engaged in a variety of projects that increase the awareness not only of Tribal members, but of the Island as a whole.
